What is a Slitter?

In converting, slitting refers to the process of cutting large rolls of material into narrower rolls. Large rolls are often referred to as master rolls or parent rolls. The slitter converts the main roll into one or more narrower rolls.

For economical reasons, parent rolls are usually made as large as possible. When these parent roll sizes don't meet your requirements, the slitter can reduce its width or even yardage to fit your process.
