The role of the slitting blade

In the vinyl, film, fabric, paper, laminate and other industries, products are often manufactured into large rolls of bulk material. Because these rolls were too large to be used in the final product, many manufacturers had to convert the material into smaller rolls, so the process of "slitting" came into being. The blades used in the slitting process will have a major impact on the final quality of the product. Therefore, it is important to choose the best slitting blade to use.

Types of slitter blade

Usually we divide the slitting form of the slitter blade including square blade slitting and round blade slitting.

1. Square blade slitting is like a razor, the blade is fixed on the knife holder of the slitting machine, and the knife is dropped during the material running process, so that the knife cuts the material longitudinally to achieve the purpose of slitting. Single-sided square knives are better for thicker and more rigid slitting of thick films, while double-sided blades are softer and suitable for thinner materials.

2. There are two main ways of circular blade slitting: upper and lower disk knife cutting and circular knife extrusion slitting. Circular knife slitting is the main slitting method for slitting thick film, composite thick film, paper and other materials. The film thickness of the slitting material is more than 100um, and it is recommended to use a circular knife for slitting.

Slitter Blades are manufactured to a thickness tolerance of ±0.002mm-0.003mm(±0.00007 inch-±0.00012inch).
