Slitting Line Serpentine Condition

Source:Trueland     Time:2022-05-26 Hits:
Slitting lines work by cutting a large roll of metal into multiple, narrower rolls. This is a very precise continuous production process. In fact, compared to other processes, it is one of the most precise ways to cut metal.

However, due to various reasons in the slitting line work, the finished product after production is sometimes not the product we want. The most common is the serpentine bending phenomenon during processing. The serpentine bending phenomenon refers to the bending phenomenon that occurs in the width direction of the steel coil after shearing. Let's analyze the reasons for this phenomenon of the cutting line from five aspects.

1. Serpentine condition caused by unbalanced slitting knife gap:

If the knife gap is large, the indentation part of the sheared part will become larger, and the side with the smaller knife gap will be stretched larger, resulting in serpentine condition. In particular, steel sheets with a small ratio of sheet thickness to sheet width (ie, narrow-width steel strips) have more serpentine conditions. Therefore, careful attention should be paid to the matching of knives for materials processed by narrow steel strips.

2. Serpentine condition caused by operation when the side guide setting is too tight:

when the side guide setting in the slitting line is too tight, the stretching of the part that contacts the steel plate side will cause serpentine condition.

3. Serpentine condition caused by unilateral stretching of the winder:

When winding, the overall tension of the web should be uniform. Once this tension is concentrated on one side, the side with the higher tension will produce a larger stretch, resulting in meandering. The reasons are poor positioning of the separator, poor pressure adjustment of the tension platen, poor placement of the backing paper, etc.

4. Serpentine condition caused by raw materials:

There will be potential residual stress inside the mother coil during the rolling process.

5. Serpentine condition caused by burr:

The burr generated in the slitting process will increase the thickness of the edge part of the burr when it is coiled by the slitting line winder. Standing behind the winder during coiling can confirm the increasing state of the plate thickness, and then dispose of it by means of paper clipping or splitting.

The above are the five reasons for the serpentine phenomenon when the slitting line is working. In actual work, we should always pay attention to the operation of the machine. If there is a problem, we must take necessary measures immediately. Only in this way can we avoid production accidents caused by machine failures. cause production losses.
