Steel plate slitting is a steel manufacturing process. It can cut large steel into various sizes required, and is generally used for specified lengths and widths.


The slitting line is to cut the metal coil into strips of various required widths, and then collect the strips into small coils for the next process. It is a necessary equipment for precision cutting of transformers, motor industries and other metal strips. The slitting line is composed of a coil car, a hydraulic uncoiler, a clamping device, a head cutter, a slitter, an edge winder, a tension frame, a winder and an export coil car.

Types of slitting lines

1. According to the thickness of the longitudinally shearing plate, it is divided into thin plate longitudinal shearing line (processing thickness 0.1-3.0mm) and thick plate longitudinal shearing line (processing thickness 3.0-6.0mm).

2. According to the slitting metal raw materials, it can be divided into copper strip slitting line, stainless steel slitting line, cold plate slitting line, silicon steel slitting line and tinplate slitting line.

3. According to the degree of automation, it can be divided into automatic slitting line and semi-automatic slitting line.

Common problems of steel plate slitting process

For the steel plate slitting process, the most common problem is that the slitting machine produces transverse bending, that is, sickle bending. This phenomenon may have the following reasons:


1. Bending of raw materials: the stress of the steel plate is not completely eliminated during the rolling process. After the longitudinal shearing, the stress is released and the bending occurs. When the stress in the middle of the plate is released to both sides, the strip bends to the outside; when the stress on both sides of the plate is released to the middle The slats appear to bend towards the middle.

2. Bending due to burrs: The burr is larger due to improper adjustment of the blade gap during slitting, and the edge has burrs during winding, which is equivalent to a larger plate thickness, resulting in edge stretching and bending.

3. The gap between the upper and lower blades is unbalanced, resulting in bending: when the left and right gap is large, the indentation in the sheared part is also large, and the one with the smaller left and right gap stretches more, so it appears bent.

4. Bending caused by uneven tension: When winding, the same tension should be applied on the entire width of the steel plate. If the tension is concentrated on one side, bending will occur.

5. Bending caused by the rapid movement of the rectification device: During the processing, if the movement and rectification speed is too fast, the side in contact with the rectification will be partially extended and bent.


If the sheet is bent after slitting, it will seriously affect the quality of the sheet, so it must be eliminated, and the reasons for the rolling of the sheet itself, equipment adjustment, and operation methods should be paid attention to. It is recommended to first judge whether it is the defect of the raw material itself, then the manufacturing accuracy and adjustment of the slitting machine itself, and then the setting of the tensioning device, the control of the winding tension, etc., may be one of the reasons, or it may be Comprehensive reasons.
