What are burrs and cambers?

Spiral imprints appear on the edge, and when the steel coil is unfolded, it will be found that the cross-section of the edge of the strip is inconsistent. One section is a cut surface, and the other is a torn surface, which appears alternately. The burr on the entire steel strip section is also large and wide. Tolerances vary widely and are essentially a form of camber. Similar fluctuations in the cut surface and width will not affect the use of users with low requirements, but will cause adverse effects on the follow-up processing of high precision and high quality, not to mention the production of products with a shearing accuracy of more than 0.1 MM.

Analysis of burrs and camber defects in slitting machine

The investigation and improvement of the two defects of slitting burr and camber are mainly focused on the slitting blade and its ancillary equipment. We can troubleshoot by detecting and controlling some key parameters. Inconsistent blade clearance will affect the stress distribution of the blade during shearing, and will also affect the stability of shearing for a long time. During the shearing process, the shearing edge is in a curved state, which not only causes burrs and sickle bending, but also causes edge waves in serious cases. .

Analysis of the causes of burrs and cambers:

1. Damage to the working face of the slitting spacer

The tolerance of the parallelism of the two ends of the longitudinal shear spacer is plus or minus 0.002mm. The smallest error of the bumps that can be found by the naked eye is more than 0.1mm. , which directly affects the precision and quality of the sheared product. The main reason for the damage of the spacer is still in operation and maintenance. For example, workers have not developed the habit of not handling with care, or they may fall or be injured during lifting or handling.


2. The problem of locking the blade and the spacer on the cutter shaft

In order to ensure the size of the product, the cutter shaft and the blade are generally combined together to form a complete whole. Once all the blades and spacers on the entire cutter shaft are not locked (as shown in the figure below), the external force of the reaction force of the strip will change, and the blades will rotate with the cutter shaft, which will directly lead to the generation of shear burrs. The solution is very simple, that is to ensure that it is locked. But whether the locking can be ensured is closely related to the device configuration. There are two common locking methods: hydraulic and mechanical.


3. The tool holder is not parallel

The shearing process is formed by the combined action of the upper and lower tool rests. If the upper and lower tool rests are not parallel, one of them is in an inclined state, which will also cause camber and burrs. It is relatively easy to solve the problem of non-parallel tool axes, which can be quickly solved by equipment experts by adjusting the worm gear and using professional testing equipment.
