Edge wave phenomenon appears in the sheet of slitting line

The edge deformation of the steel strip due to being stretched is called edge wave. There are many reasons for the edge wave phenomenon in the slitting line. Side waves may be generated on both sides of the sheet, and side waves may also be generated on one side. 

 

Edge waves caused by glitches

 

When being taken up by a winder, the outer diameter of the burr edge has a tendency to gradually increase, which will cause edge stretching. Most of this situation will produce snakes and side waves. Once this kind of edge wave is discovered, customers will definitely complain. So the management of glitches is one of the most important points.

 


It is necessary to fully monitor the coiling process. Once the outer diameter gradually increases, it can only be solved by paper jams, but most customers will hate paper jams. 

 

Measure side waves caused by excessive roll reduction

 

When the measuring roll reduction is too large, the edge will be stretched, which will easily generate side waves.

 

Edge wave generated by sintering of iron filings on the side of the tool

 

Small edge waves will be generated in the case of sintering of iron chips on the side of the tool, and rough noodles caused by the wear of the overlapped surface of the tool. The countermeasures are as follows:  

 

Increase the knife gap to reduce the side pressure; select a knife that is suitable for the processing material; apply a high volatile solvent such as banana water on the side of the knife (consider the customer's use if necessary, if you apply oil, the effect will be better.)

 

Side wave generated by the height difference of the side guide

 


As the tool is ground, the height of the through plate will change. If the height difference is too large, side waves are likely to occur. Therefore, when using the grinding tool, check the height of the entrance side and adjust the height of the through plate if necessary.

 

Side wave caused by the wear of the front deflection roller of the winder

 

Once the wear of the deflection roller or the tension roller (usually saddle-shaped wear occurs due to more contact with the steel belt in the middle of the roller) is too large, excessive tension on both sides will produce side waves when the wide trimming material is coiled. Such side waves are not easy to find, so there is a risk of bad batches. Therefore, it is very important to measure the amount of dent on the relevant roller with a ruler.
